Tuesday and Thursday
Clifton Physiotherapy is a long-established, highly reputable practice offering a professional, friendly service, with Physiotherapy treatment given by Chartered Physiotherapists, and Pilates taught on a one-to-one basis. Owners Marion Averill and Lisa Barnacle bought the practice from the previous owner in 2001. Dwara joined the team in February 2010 and is delighted to be part of such an excellent practice..
The practice is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am. On Mondays and Thursdays, it is open until 7.30pm; on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, it is open until 6.00pm. There is full-time reception and, when you ring for an appointment or to make an enquiry, the phone will usually be answered by Liz Horrigan or Gemma Lock. Acupuncture appointments with Dwara are available on Tuesdays from 9am till 6pm and on Thursday from 3.45pm till 7.30pm.
Clifton Physiotherapy is at the side of the Pembroke Road GP practice, just along from the corner of Pembroke Road and Guthrie Road. To find us, just walk down the drive at the side of the surgery (you’ll see a sign for Physiotherapy) and down the stone steps. If you cannot manage steps, follow the drive round to the back of the building, where you will see disabled access.
Many of Dwara’s patients come for treatment for painful conditions (back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, arthritis, headache and migraine etc) In this respect, the practice offers the additional advantage of consultation with her physiotherapy colleagues if appropriate. She also gives acupuncture to help with many other conditions including women’s and men’s fertility problems, problems in pregnancy, digestive problems such as IBS, respiratory conditions, immune problems, fatigue, anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties and cosmetic or facial revitalisation acupuncture.
Parking is free in the streets around the practice.

Thursday mornings
The Chiron Centre was started in 2006 by Andrew Kemp and Claire Kedward with the aim of establishing a centre of excellence offering a broad range of complementary medicine treatments. There is a team of full-time, friendly and efficient receptionists, one of whom is available to greet patients and deal with telephone and personal enquiries during opening hours, from 9.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Saturday. When you arrive at the clinic, you will be warmly welcomed and shown into a very comfortable waiting-room, where you can relax until your appointment time.
The Chiron Centre is very conveniently situated near the village of Westbury-on-Trym, at the junction of Westbury Road and Falcondale Road, near Red Maids’ School. Despite being near a main road, the Centre is quiet and peaceful, with lovely views across Bristol, so you can enjoy your treatment with a sense of time out from the busy demands of everyday life.
Dwara is available at the Chiron Centre for acupuncture appointments on Thursday mornings between 9.00am and 1.00pm. There is disabled access and reserved parking can be arranged on the forecourt, but there is one flight of stairs to the acupuncture treatment room.
Many of Dwara’s patients come for acupuncture to help with fertility problems (both male and female), problems in pregnancy, menstrual problems, digestive problems, respiratory conditions, immune problems, fatigue, anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties and facial revitalisation. She also sees patients for many painful conditions (back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, arthritis, headache and migraine etc).
Parking is free and unlimited alongside the clinic on Falcondale Road, and there is also street parking on Westbury Road. If you want to cycle to the centre, you can safely leave your bike in our cycle racks. Several buses run past the Chiron Centre. The number 1 bus runs every 10 minutes during busy periods (its route is from Broomhill to Cribbs Causeway via Temple Meads station, the City centre and Westbury village). The number 55 runs every 30 minutes in busy periods. Both these services stop within a few yards of the clinic. Other services stop in Westbury village, about five minutes’ walk away. Monday and Wednesday
The Trinity Practice was established in 1987 as an Osteopathic Practice. Dwara joined the practice in 1994. The practice is a small, very professional, warm and friendly one, which now consists of four osteopaths including the Principals Kevin Partridge and Emma Childs, acupuncturist Dwara, a massage practitioner and a counsellor, as well as the practice manager, Jill Wilson, who has been at the practice since 1991, and is remarkable for her ability to remember every patient who has ever had treatment here! If you phone the practice, it is most likely to be Jill who answers the phone and arranges your appointment. She is available to take calls between 9.00a.m and noon, and from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Outside those times, you may have to leave a message on our answerphone, but we will always get back to you.
Acupuncture appointments with Dwara are available on Mondays and Wednesdays, including one or two appointments after 5p.m. For patients who have difficulty climbing stairs, there is a ground floor treatment room available at certain times. If you tell Jill, at the time of booking, that you cannot manage stairs, she will make your appointment accordingly.
Many of Dwara’s patients at the Trinity Practice come for treatment for painful conditions (back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, arthritis, headache and migraine etc), but she sees patients for many other conditions including women’s and men’s fertility problems, problems in pregnancy, digestive problems, respiratory conditions, immune problems, fatigue, anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties and facial revitalisation.
Parking is easy. We are on the corner of Bell Street and Haimes Lane. Disabled people can park opposite the practice. Waiting time there is limited otherwise. We are a short walk from the Angel Lane car park – you can take the short footpath from the top end of the car park, where you emerge by the library, which is just across the road.
Dwara is an experienced, professionally trained acupuncturist and a member of the British Acupuncture Council. She has been in practice since 1992.
If you would like to have a chat with her before making an appointment, do phone the practice nearest you and ask Dwara to get in touch with you, or email dwara@acupuncture-bristol.co.uk, putting "Enquiry from website" as your subject heading.
