EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Dwara is an experienced acupuncturist with practices in Bristol and Shaftesbury.
Dwara's initial acupuncture training was a three year course in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York from where she graduated in 1992, then beginning her professional practice in Dorset.
Since then she has been in full-time practice, and has extended and deepened her knowledge of acupuncture in many ways, including the following courses:
1994 Northern College of Acupuncture Summer School, covering acupuncture and epilepsy, stroke rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and scalp acupuncture
1996 Paul Nogier method of using ear acupuncture to help stop smoking
1999 Giovanni Maciocia seminar on obstetrics and gynaecology
2000 One month visit to China, including lectures at the Beijing Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine on many topics including tongue diagnosis, gynaecology, mental and emotional disorders. Half her time was spent at the at the Beijing Number 6 hospital where she observed and helped to treat acupuncture patients suffering from pain, after effects of stroke, eczema, vitiligo, hot flushes and birth injuries in children.

2004 One year course at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, on Chinese herbal formulae in pre-prepared form (i.e prescribing Chinese herbs in pill form)
2005 Jeremy Ross seminar on the energetics of western herbs
2006 International TCM Conference in Rothenburg including lectures on male infertility, skin disorders, and common menstrual problems
2006 Naturechild Conference on Fertility, including lectures by Dr Paul Magarelli and Diane Cridennda on the biology of reproduction and their clinical work and research into acupuncture and assisted reproduction, Mr Michael Dooley on Infertility - East meets West, Giovanni Maciocia on Chinese medicine diagnosis, Dr Stephen Gascoigne on assisted reproduction drugs from a Chinese medicine perspective, Peter Deadman on treating male sub-fertility, and Jill Glover on treating with acupuncture through an assisted reproduction cycle.
2007 International TCM Conference in Rothenburg including lectures by Stephen Birch on Japanese Acupuncture, Radha Thambirajah on Facial Revitalisation, and Yair Maimon on emotions in Chinese medicine.
2007 Naturechild Conference: three day course with Jane Lyttleton on treating fertility problems with Chinese medicine
2008 Julian Scott seminar on eye disorders
2009 Jill Glover seminar on IVF and acupuncture; Kevin Young seminar on back, neck and shoulder pain and acupuncture; Debra Betts seminar on acupuncture in pregnancy
